Criminology Student Associations

SSA

The Sociological Student Association held its first meeting in September 2012. All students, including those in Bachelor’s of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies (BSIS) with a Criminology specialization, Criminology majors/minors, and any other interested students are welcome to join! SSA works to provide academic discipline in Criminology/Sociology, promote students into the Criminology/Sociology program, as well as student and teacher involvement, and advocate community involvement. SSA meets the last Thursday of every month at 5 PM in Bowen 250.

AKD

Criminology majors are eligible for membership in the Mississippi Alpha chapter of Alpha Kappa Delta (LINK), the International Sociology Honor Society. Each year, Alpha Kappa Delta brings nationally recognized speakers to MSU, hosts many social and community service outreach projects, as well as acts as a means for criminology majors to interact with faculty and graduate students alike. To be considered for membership, a student must be an officially declared criminology major or demonstrate a serious interest in criminology, must be at least a junior, have at least a 3.30 overall GPA, and must have maintained a 3.00 GPA in Criminology and Sociology courses.
